The Abrasive Wheels course is for individuals who use abrasive wheels or employ others who use them in their work. Abrasive wheels are utilised in various tools and processes, from hand grinding to disc cutting. These wheels can be used at all stages of a work process, from making preliminary cuts and scores in materials to fine polishing and finishing.

Ensuring that abrasive wheels are used correctly and safely is crucial, as they can pose significant risks and hazards if mismanaged. This course covers the anatomy of an abrasive wheel and the dangers associated with its use. Participants will explore abrasive wheel safety, including safe speeds and other wheel markings. Proper storage, handling techniques, and the importance of checking and testing abrasive wheels for defects will also be covered.

Over eleven modules, this course offers an introduction to working safely with abrasive wheels so that you can understand the risks and know which control measures are needed to prevent injury and ill health.

Module 1: Introducing Abrasive Wheels

This module provides an introduction to abrasive wheels and their applications.

Module 2: The Anatomy of an Abrasive Wheel

This module covers the components of an abrasive wheel and how to identify different types of wheels.

Module 3: The Dangers of Abrasive Wheels

This module explores the hazards of abrasive wheels and how to control the risks to ensure safe use.

Module 4: Abrasive Wheel Safety

This module guides selecting, handling, and maintaining abrasive wheels to ensure safe use and prevent accidents.

Module 5: Safe Speeds

This module explains the safe speeds for different types of abrasive wheels and how to use them within those limits.

Module 6: Other Wheel Markings

This module looks at other markings found on abrasive wheels and their significance in ensuring safe use.

Module 7: Storage and Handling

This module covers the safe storage and handling of abrasive wheels to prevent damage and ensure they remain fit.

At the end of the course there is a multiple-choice exam. The required pass mark for all modules is 70%. It is essential to achieve the requried pass mark to issue a certificate.

Retake information :

You will be given 3 attempts at each module. If a module is failed on the third attempt,
it will become locked and you need to contact us for the module to be
unlocked again. You are only permitted up to 3 extra attempts per
course.

You can take the exam up to 3 times, and if not successful, should repay the course fee and start again.

100 minutes (Note: This is based on the amount of video content shown and is rounded off.

It does not account in any way for loading time or thinking time on the questions).

 
After successful completion ofthe course the learner will achieve a Certification of Completion from Course Central and Achievement Certificate.
